DR OMAR ALI   BSc (Hon), MBBS, MRCP, DIC, PhD CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST

Dr Omar Ali is a Consultant Cardiologist and specialist in Interventional Cardiology at the Frimley Health Trust in partnership with the Ministry of Defense, one of the largest trusts in the United Kingdom.

Dr Omar Ali graduated from Guys Kings and St Thomas' Medical School in 2000 with a First Class Honours degree in his BSc in Cardiovascular Pharmacology and was awarded the King’s College London Scholarship for the top 10 graduates of the year.

ABOUT ME

Profile and Clinical Practice

Dr Omar Ali undertook his specialist cardiology training at prestigious hospitals in London and Europe working alongside world renowned experts. These include the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and Hammersmith Hospital in London and the Erasmus Medical Centre and Maasstad Ziekenhuis in Netherlands where he undertook his fellowship in Coronary Angioplasty and Trans-catheter Aortic Valve Intervention (TAVI).

Dr Omar Ali was awarded the British Heart Foundation Junior Fellowship to study his postgraduate medical doctorate at Hammersmith Hospital. He was awarded his doctorate degree from Imperial College London winning in second place the British Junior Cardiologist Association- International Research Award. He is still involved in research exploring optimal treatments for coronary heart disease. His work has been presented at International Conferences in both United Kingdom and Abroad in Europe and the United states and continues to be widely cited in the medical literature. He is the director of the Wexham Integrated Cardiology Conference with accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians in London.

In addition to providing world-class treatment for coronary and valve heart disease, Dr Omar Ali treats a wide range of adult cardiology conditions of NHS and Private patients including: Angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), shortness of breath, heart failure, referrals for investigation of palpitations and collapse, cardiovascular risk assessment, perioperative cardiac assessment, treatment of elevated cholesterol levels and valve heart disease.

Dr Omar Ali takes care in making comprehensive assessment of all patients explaining any results and treatment required as well as considering alternative treatment options. He has consistently been rated very highly by patients in The Patient Surveys.

His areas of expertise include

  • Chest pain and heart attack management. Dr Omar Ali uses diagnostic techniques including coronary angiography and non-invasive cardiac CT imaging in making the diagnosis of coronary narrowing/atheroma ​

  • Coronary stent (angioplasty). He performs regular weekly sessions of complex coronary angioplasty using state of the art coronary imaging techniques such as Intravascular Ultrasound and Optical Coherence Tomography. He performs his procedures predominantly using the radial artery which is a technique associated with lower bleeding rate and early mobilisation ​

  • Slow heart rate and dizziness. He performs permanent pacemaker insertion procedures (both single and dual chamber) to treat symptomatic slow heart rate causing dizziness and or collapse

  • Valve heart disease. He is experienced in diagnosis and management of common valve disease such as aortic stenosis and alternative non-surgical treatments such as TAVI
